Zinc Phosphate in Paints for Long-Lasting Protection

MAJOR APPLICATIONS OF ZINC PHOSPHATE:

It is widely being used in manufacturing of anti-corrosive paint primer systems. Zinc phosphate, it is also referred to as zinc orthophosphate or trizinc phosphate, is an easy dispersing, non toxic corrosion inhibitor designed for water and solvent based coatings. It has quickly replaced lead or chromium-based ant corrosive pigments as an efficient corrosion stopper.

Phosphating transforms covers metal surfaces as a guard to protect. Polycrystalline coatings that resist corrosion, provide lubricity and aid paint adhesion. Phosphating is typically applied prior to additional surface treatments such as chromate or zinc phosphate coatings being applied.

Corrosion Resistance

Zinc phosphate is a nontoxic coating with excellent corrosion-resistance properties, making it suitable for protecting surfaces against water or humidity damage, helping extend their lifespan while decreasing maintenance and reapplication needs. Composed of zinc, phosphorus and oxygen; it has mostly taken the place of more toxic alternatives based on lead or chromium and is now the world’s most commonly used anticorrosive pigment.

Phosphating creates an insoluble gray to black finish on iron and steel surfaces when applied with oil or lubricant treatments, offering corrosion protection in harsh environments.

Zinc Phosphate coatings protect underlying substrates from oxidation by using phosphorus and oxide compounds on their surface to stop zinc reacting with cathodic metals such as iron. Furthermore, oxygen cannot easily reach them; further protecting from oxidation. Zinc phosphate finishes also offer an appealing matte finish which complements most paints and finishes.

Esaar Zinc Phosphate is compatible with variety of solvents & Water based Polymers. Purer pharma grades are also used in the formulation of Dental Cement.
